Las Vegas, NV - Two State Troopers Killed in Hit-&-Run on I-15

Las Vegas, NV (December 1, 2023) - Two Nevada state troopers were killed after a hit-and-run accident in the Las Vegas area on Thursday morning, November 30. The deadly accident took place on Interstate 15 at around 3:30 a.m. The troopers had reportedly stopped on the highway to check on a driver who had fallen asleep behind the wheel.

It was then that both were hit by a white Chevrolet HHR. The at-fault driver did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. One of the troopers was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to a local hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries. It was later confirmed that the suspect motorist had been taken into custody. At this time, no additional information is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in progress.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.

Deadly Hit-&-Run Crashes in Nevada

A hit-and-run accident is absolutely devastating. They involve drivers who flee the scene, and in most cases, these crashes involve pedestrians or cyclists who are unable to seek the medical attention they desperately need. Unfortunately, the number of hit-and-run collisions is on the rise. There are an estimated 682,000 of these crashes reported each year, and a driver flees the scene of a crash almost every 43 seconds on average.

Unfortunately, pedestrian crashes are more likely to result in fatal injuries, and those on foot still have a right to use the road. It may be possible to pursue a claim for compensation on behalf of those who are unjustly killed or injured by a careless driver. In the event of a fatal pedestrian accident, families and other close relatives of the victim may be able to seek compensation on behalf of the deceased, according to Nevada state law. Regretfully, the insurance company of the negligent party will likely try to shift blame for the accident in order to withhold the settlement you are owed after a fatal accident.

You should collaborate with a lawyer who has handled wrongful death cases. These are some of the most challenging cases, and it might be nearly impossible to try to address them on your own.
