Sparks, NV - Candy Godkin Killed in Head-On Crash at Greg St & Marietta Way

Sparks, NV (November 25, 2023) - On Friday, November 24, a local woman was killed following a head-on collision in the Sparks area. The deadly crash occurred at the corner of Greg Street and Marietta Way at around 2:37 a.m. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene and found two heavily damaged vehicles. It was later reported that 31-year-old Candy Godkin was trapped inside one of the vehicles, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Local reports indicated that Godkin was headed eastbound when a westbound driver veered into oncoming traffic, and both vehicles crashed head-on. Both vehicles were overturned due to the impact. The other driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. No additional information has been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Candy Godkin at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.

Deadly Head-On Crashes in Nevada

Head-on collisions are unlike other types of traffic accidents in that they involve two vehicles traveling directly toward each other at the time of impact. It is safe to say that this will create some high-impact crashes. These types of collisions are not entirely common and are only involved in less than 2 percent of reported collisions nationwide. However, head-on crashes contribute to almost 10 percent of deadly crashes each year across the United States.

Your life may never be the same after a deadly car accident. A car accident can happen in a matter of seconds, and victims are known to incur fatal injuries. A deadly crash can feel impossible to bear on your own, and your feelings of grief will only be magnified if you later find out that someone else’s reckless actions contributed to the accident. You need to be ready to take the necessary legal action to ensure that you are able to obtain complete compensation for your injuries and other damages.

Many families put off taking any legal action after a fatal crash. This is understandable, and it can seem odd to make a loved one’s death into a legal matter.
