Distracted Driving Crashes in Nevada

As a driver, it is expected that you will keep your eyes on the road. Unfortunately, what should be a simple task proves to be very difficult for many drivers in Nevada. It is common knowledge that driving while distracted is very dangerous, with some studies showing that it can be as risky as driving while intoxicated. The number of crashes caused by distracted driving has grown tremendously in the past few years. Between 2014 and 2018, there were 63 distracted driving crashes in Nevada, which resulted in 62 documented deaths. Statistics show that nearly 50 percent of these collisions occurred in urban areas. More than 3,000 people are killed annually by distracted drivers on American roads. Texting behind the wheel, talking with a passenger, and even just messing with the radio can be examples of distracted driving. Texting is probably one of the most common offenses. You can easily travel the length of a football field in the time it takes to single a text while traveling at highway speeds.
