Nevada Pedestrian Accidents

Traveling as a pedestrian is a right, and everyone should be free to travel on foot. Unfortunately, many people who choose to walk are seriously injured in car crashes. It is a fact that many drivers fail to look out for pedestrians, causing life-changing collisions in the process. According to data from the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), the state has a high rate of pedestrian fatalities, with Clark County—home to Las Vegas—having a disproportionately high number of significant pedestrian crashes. According to a recent four-year state investigation, there were 387 fatalities overall in Nevada from 376 pedestrian accidents. Pedestrians account for about 24.4 percent of road fatalities in the state, and the majority of these accidents happen in urban areas in Nevada. In fact, nearly 90 percent of deadly pedestrian crashes in the state occur on city streets. This is because people on foot have to share the road with many other vehicles in these areas. Due to the exposed nature of a pedestrian, they are much more likely to suffer life-changing injuries in the event of a traffic accident. That is why you should pursue a personal injury claim in order to pursue a full recovery.
