Any type of car accident can be a completely traumatic event. However, the distress that is often involved in a hit-and-run can be completely devastating. It is common for crash victims to be unsure of where to turn after a driver flees the scene of a serious crash. You likely will not know who will cover your injuries and other resulting damages as the at-fault party is nowhere to be found. However, even hit-and-run crashes can lead to successful personal injury lawsuits.

If you are hit by a driver who flees the scene, you need to write down everything you can see about the vehicle. This includes the license plate and a possible description of the driver. Then, you should contact the authorities to register the incident and get an accident report.
