Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada

The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has shown that there are more pedestrian accidents occurring in the state each year, with Clark County—home of Las Vegas—having a disproportionately high number of serious pedestrian crashes. In Nevada, 376 fatal pedestrian accidents were reported between 2014 and 2018, accounting for a total of 387 fatalities. Pedestrians are involved in roughly 24.4 percent of roadway fatalities in the state, and over 90 percent of Nevada's fatal pedestrian accidents take place in metropolitan areas.

If there is a traffic accident, pedestrians are more likely to sustain life-changing injuries. Those traveling on foot will feel the full force of an oncoming motor vehicle's impact, and the ensuing injuries can often be serious and even fatal. The damages resulting from a pedestrian crash quickly rise to unimaginably high levels beyond the capacity of ordinary people. According to statistics, careless drivers who are distracted and fail to pay attention to the road at intersections are frequently the cause of life-changing pedestrian accidents.

In the event of a collision, pedestrians frequently sustain life-threatening injuries such as broken or shattered bones, head trauma, road rash, neck and back injuries, and more. Pedestrians who suffer these injuries frequently can suffer fatal injuries, leaving their loved ones to pick up the pieces.
