Ely, NV (November 29, 2023) - On Friday, November 24, a Las Vegas man was killed following a multi-vehicle collision outside of Ely. The deadly collision took place on US-6 near mile marker 33 in White Pines County that evening at around 6:40 p.m. It was reported that 33-year-old Cameron Estes of the 72nd Military Police Company was traveling to Battle Born Youth Challenge Academy at the time of the deadly collision.
Estes was headed eastbound in a pickup truck as a semi-trailer was traveling in the opposite direction. The roadways were icy, and Estes’ vehicle rotated clockwise and entered westbound traffic where it was hit by the oncoming 18-wheeler. Estes sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was later pronounced dead. The operator of the truck was not seriously injured. No additional information on the accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
