Las Vegas, NV - Man on Moped Killed in Hit-&-Run at Flamingo Rd & Pecos Rd

Las Vegas, NV (January 22, 2024) - On Friday, January 19, a man was killed while riding a moped in the Las Vegas area. The fatal crash was reported at the corner of E. Flamingo Road and S. Pecos Road at around 11:55 p.m. Local reports indicated that a Ford F-150 pickup truck was seen headed eastbound on Flamingo Road as it approached the intersection.

The driver of the truck reportedly failed to slow down and crashed into a moped that was traveling in front of them. The 66-year-old male rider was ejected from the bike as the Ford continued heading east. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck was later found by authorities, and the owner was identified as 68-year-old Kenneth Frank. He was taken into custody by officials. Frank is currently facing charges related to the deadly accident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Riding a moped is a ton of fun, and it is a common pastime for many people across the country. In fact, mopeds and scooters are rising in popularity in the United States. Statistics show that nearly 40 percent of moped accidents result in bone fractures and nearly 7 percent cause head trauma. Motorcycle and moped crashes both can result in severe and similar types of injuries. When you look at the data, you find that motorcyclists are nearly 27 times more likely to die than someone riding in a passenger car.
