Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in Nevada

According to findings from the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT), the number of pedestrian accidents in the state is on the rise, and this is particularly the case in Clark County, the home of Las Vegas. From 2014 to 2018, there were 376 deadly pedestrian accidents reported in Nevada, resulting in 387 fatalities in total. Almost 90 percent of deadly pedestrian accidents took place in urban areas, and nearly 24.4 percent of traffic fatalities in the state involve pedestrians.

Pedestrians are at a heightened risk of suffering injuries in the event of a traffic accident. When they are hit by an oncoming motor vehicle, they are going to experience the full impact, and the resulting injuries are often severe and life-threatening. This means that the resulting damages can quickly reach astronomical levels that most people are not equipped to handle. Statistics show that many pedestrian accidents are caused by negligent drivers who are distracted and not paying attention to the road at intersections.

It is common for pedestrians to suffer life-threatening injuries in the event of a crash, including fractured or broken bones, head trauma, road rash, neck and back injuries, and more. These injuries are often fatal for pedestrians, and those closest to the victim are often left to pick up the pieces.
