Interstate 80. On December 13, 2019, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported on a semi accident on I-80. According to the report, a semi was transporting 30,000 pounds of plywood sheets, which was described as a “loose and shifty load” secured by “frayed and broken” straps. Predictably, the truck had to stop and authorities had to shut down the highway so that the plywood load could be taken off the truck. Highway Patrol Trooper Hannah DeGoey told the newspaper that “It might have killed someone if the plywood sheets had flown off.”
Stunningly, later on, that same day, the same truck overturned on Pyramid Way carrying a new load of plywood. Fortunately, no one was hurt, but Pyramid Way was closed as a result of the second incident involving this same truck.
