Las Vegas, NV (June 27, 2024) - One person was left with critical injuries following a hit-and-run accident in the Las Vegas area on Wednesday, June 26. The incident was reported at the corner of N. Pecos Road and E. Bonanza Road early that morning around 2:26 a.m. Local reports that a Kia Soul with four occupants was traveling on Pecos when the driver failed to stop at a red light at the intersection with Bonanza.
The Kia hit a Honda Pilot that had a green light. Debris from the crash hit a nearby Nissan Altima that was stopped at the light. The impact caused the Kia to rotate and leave one of its passengers on the road. The Kia and the remaining passengers fled the scene. Emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The 19-year-old passenger was transported to the UMC Trauma Center for the treatment of critical injuries. The 38-year-old woman driving the Honda was hospitalized and later released. The 30-year-old Las Vegas resident driving the Nissan was also injured but remained at the scene. No further information is currently available. However, an ongoing investigation into the cause of the incident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Red Light Crashes in Nevada
The purpose of stop signs and traffic lights is to guarantee the safety of all drivers. Unfortunately, they do not do much good if drivers ignore them. Many cars run stop signs and red lights, which can result in catastrophic crashes. You should always proceed cautiously when crossing an intersection because a serious car accident could happen at any time. In the United States, many drivers choose to run red lights, and red-light runners are thought to kill two people and hurt 50,000 others every day. Research indicates that the likelihood of suffering injuries in a red-light collision is higher than in any other kind of collision. The majority of these deaths involve people outside the vehicle that ran the light. You need to partner with a trained lawyer to get the most out of your case.
