Paradise, NV - Deadly Head-on Crash at Nellis Blvd & Desert Inn Rd

Paradise, NV (June 26, 2024) - One person was killed and several others were injured after a multi-vehicle crash in the Paradise area on Monday, June 24. The deadly accident was reported at the corner of Nellis Boulevard and Desert Inn Road early that morning, around 9 a.m. Local reports indicated that four vehicles were involved in the crash.

Local reports revealed that a 2021 Kia K5 was headed northbound on Nellis in the left travel lane as a 2012 Lexus ES350 was stopped in a private driveway facing west on the roadway. A 2020 Honda Civic was traveling north in the middle lane on Nellis as a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling south on the roadway. A series of crashes occurred as the Lexus made a right turn onto Nellis from Desert Inn. The Kia collided with the left front of the Lexus. The impact caused the Lexus to face east and hit the left side of the Honda.

The Kia was redirected west when it crossed the raised median and entered into opposing traffic. The front of the Kia hit the front of the Dodge pickup. The driver of the Kia was transported by ambulance to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where they were later pronounced dead. The deceased was later identified as 21-year-old DeMarr Sims Jr. The driver of the Lexus self-transported to an Urgent Care facility, and the driver and passenger of the Honda were taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center by ambulance. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Fatal Head-on Accidents in Nevada

Drivers are known to swerve into oncoming traffic and hit your car, causing what is known as a head-on collision. These kinds of accidents are more likely to cause serious or even fatal injuries, according to statistics. These collisions are most common in rural areas.
