Paradise, NV (May 1, 2024) - On Sunday, April 28, a motorcyclist was hurt after a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in the Paradise neighborhood of Las Vegas. The accident was reported at the corner of Wigwam Avenue and Eastern Avenue early that morning around 10:50 a.m. Local reports indicated that the driver of a 2020 Toyota Sienna minivan was exiting a private driveway when they failed to yield to an oncoming motorcycle.

The two vehicles collided, and emergency crews were rushed to the scene to provide aid to the involved parties. The injured rider was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. It was later revealed that the other driver, 72-year-old David Degood, showed signs of impairment. Degood was arrested for DUI-related charges. No further information on the accident is currently available at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Motorcycle Accidents in Nevada

There is nothing quite like riding a motorcycle, but experienced riders are aware of the risks of hitting the open road. A recent four-year study carried out in Nevada found that motorcycles played a role in over 19 percent of traffic deaths. These crashes resulted in 306 fatalities in all. Across the nation, motorcycle riders are disproportionately involved in deadly collisions. Roughly 80 percent of motorbike collisions end in death or severe injuries. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were 5,014 motorcycle fatalities and 84,000 motorcycle injuries in a recent year. It can be difficult to fully recover after a serious crash. It is always in your best interests to work with a trained lawyer to pursue a claim for compensation.

Motorcyclists face considerable risks while traveling on public roads. Even if they are wearing all the required safety gear, they are not totally protected from the full force of a traffic accident. Bikers face the risk of being flung off the bike and incurring severe injuries in a crash. This is but one of the many reasons why motorcyclists frequently find themselves involved in deadly crashes. You must be prepared in case you or a loved one sustains significant injuries in a motorcycle accident. Working with a lawyer can help you get the best settlement for your claim. To optimize your recovery, you must take all reasonable steps, including hiring an experienced personal injury attorney to handle your case from the start.
