Elko, NV (December 22, 2023) - An off-duty police officer was hurt after he was hit by a car while walking a dog in the Elko area on Wednesday, December 20. The crash was reported at the corner of Ruby Vista Drive and Sequoia Drive late that evening. Local reports revealed that 42-year-old Oscar J. Hanes of Idah Falls, Idaho was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck when he hit the pedestrian and the dog.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. Hanes was arrested by responding officials for charges of driving under the influence. At this time, no updates on the condition of the injured party have been provided, and the identity of the victim has been withheld. No further information is currently available.
