Las Vegas, NV (December 30, 2023) - On Friday morning, December 29, a driver was killed and three passengers were injured after a crash at a busy intersection in Las Vegas. The accident was reported at the corner of S. Durango Drive and Soneto Lane at around 10:23 a.m. Local reports indicated that a 26-year-old Las Vegas man was operating a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder when they attempted to make a left turn at the intersection.
At the same time, 19-year-old Elkin Meja C. was headed northbound in a 2011 Hyundai Genesis. The Nissan crossed into the path of the oncoming Hyundai, and the Genesis hit the front of the Pathfinder, causing it to overturn. The driver of the Nissan suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 30-year-old Las Vegas woman in the Nissan and two passengers in the Hyundai were transported to the hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. The identity of the deceased victim has not been provided. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is being handled by local law enforcement officials.
