There is no hard and fast rule of when to hire a lawyer after being hurt by a reckless driver. In most cases, you should hire a lawyer as soon as you file a claim with your insurance provider. This is especially the case if the accident results in serious or fatal injuries. You can potentially recover compensation even if you were not hurt in the collision. For example, if your vehicle sustained significant damage, or you suffered serious emotional distress, you may still be able to recover lost damages. A trained attorney can help you determine which damages may be available in your case.

There is a chance you will run into difficulties if you choose to pursue a wrongful death claim on your own.
