Deadly Pedestrian Crashes in Nevada
Pedestrians are always at risk when traveling on or near Nevada roadways. In fact, nearly 24 percent of traffic fatalities in the state involved a pedestrian, according to findings from a study by the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety (NOTS). The data found that a total of 380 pedestrians were killed in the state in a recent five-year period. Pedestrians continue to make up a significant number of roadway deaths in Nevada, and families of victims should seriously consider pursuing legal action in order to be made whole after a fatal pedestrian crash.
Dealing with the loss of a loved one is never easy. You can feel that your life will never be the same, and the situation can be even harder to handle if you later find out that the actions of a reckless driver were responsible. You need to have a strong understanding of your legal rights after a deadly collision. Nevada state law provides a way for those closest to the victim to obtain financial compensation on part of the deceased if it is found that someone’s negligence contributed to the deadly accident. Many families make the mistake of putting off seeking legal action, but this is often a mistake. It is important to take immediate action in order to ensure that key evidence is preserved. If you wait too long to pursue a case, this evidence can be lost forever.
