Deadly Rollover Crashes in Nevada
A rollover is a particularly dangerous type of collision. These accidents often cause the vehicle to leave the road and occupants to be ejected, sustaining life-threatening injuries in the process. This greatly increases the risk of fatal injuries. A total of 7,640 people were killed in rollover accidents nationwide in 2021. Statistics show that top-heavy vehicles like sport-utility vehicles and pickup trucks are more likely to overturn in the event of a crash. The majority of fatalities in rollovers involved unrestrained passengers.
In Nevada, wrongful death is a civil cause of action that occurs when someone loses their life due to someone else’s negligent actions. In these instances, a claim can be brought by the executor of the deceased’s estate or surviving family members. There is generally a two-year statute of limitations in place to pursue a wrongful death claim in Nevada. This means you essentially have two years to pursue a case, or you risk completely losing your right to get any compensation for the incident.
If someone wrongfully caused the death of another, they can be held responsible through a wrongful death claim. However, these are some of the most complicated cases that we handle at our firm, and it is often difficult for families to pursue these types of claims on their own. A trained personal injury lawyer will be able to help you through the process to ensure your legal rights are secured in the event of a fatal car accident.
