Sunrise Manor, NV (March 23, 2024) - One person is dead and another hurt following a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in the Sunrise Manor area on Friday, March 22. The deadly accident was reported at the crossing of N. Walnut Road and Las Vegas Boulevard early that morning at around 3:30 a.m. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched after being notified of a serious collision.
Local reports indicated that 28-year-old Charlie Hernandez was speeding southbound in a Dodge Challenger when he hit a Hyundai Accent that was making a turn at the intersection. The impact caused the Hyundai to split in half and the Dodge to roll. The 38-year-old driver of the Hyundai and a 29-year-old passenger in the Challenger were transported to UMC’s Trauma Center for treatment of sustained injuries.
The driver of the Accent was later pronounced dead, and the Challenger passenger is in critical condition. Hernandez was arrested and is facing DUI and reckless driving-related charges. No further information on the deadly crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.
