The Dangers of Driving on Bald Tires

As the owner of a motor vehicle you have the responsibility of keeping it in good working condition. This means making sure that your tires have enough tread at all times.

It may not sound like a big deal, but bald tires are extremely dangerous. When you don't have enough tread, it can lead to a variety of problems on the road, all of which can cause an accident.

The biggest problem with bald tires is that they are not able to provide good traction when it rains. With no grooves, the water is not channeled away. As a result, the tire does not maintain solid grip with the road.

You should also realize that driving in the snow on bald tires is a mistake. Without enough tread, your tires won't dig into the snow. Subsequently, maintaining traction can be a difficult task.

Even on dry roads, bald tires are more likely to fail you. For example, a bald tire could blow out when hot weather sets in. If this happens when you are driving at a high rate of speed an accident is a possibility.

If you are concerned about the condition of your tires, it's best to have these inspected as soon as possible. If a change is necessary, don't delay in swapping out your old tires for new ones.

While you may be in touch with your car's maintenance needs, other drivers don't always take the same approach. This is just one of the many reasons why you could be involved in an accident, despite the fact that you are making all the right decisions as a driver.
