Las Vegas, NV (November 14, 2023) - On Sunday, November 12, an elderly woman was killed and two others were hurt following a serious collision involving an alleged drunk driver in the Las Vegas area.
The deadly accident was reported at the corner of W. Charleston Boulevard and Merialdo Lane near S. Durango Drive at around 1:55 p.m. Local reports indicated that a Toyota Corolla was traveling on Charleston when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Merialdo. An Acura TLX was headed westbound at a high rate of speed as the driver of the Toyota was attempting the turn.
The Toyota entered into the Acura’s path, and both vehicles collided. The front of the TLX hit the side of the Corolla, damaging both vehicles in the process. An 81-year-old woman traveling as a passenger in the Toyota suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were transported to UMC Trauma for treatment of sustained injuries. The 35-year-old driver of the Acura was later detained under the suspicion of driving while intoxicated. No additional information has been provided at this time. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
